SEPHORA proudly announces the opening of its newest and largest Canadian store on Vancouver’s Robson Street. Vancouver beauty enthusiasts will now have access to 8,600 square feet of the most innovative and immersive beauty experiences featuring exclusive services, brands and state of the art store design. SEPHORA Robson features more than 200 colour, skincare, fragrance and haircare brands including services only available at this store, like a dry styling bar for hair.
We were invited to the exclusive preview event to tour the new store at 1045 Robson Street in Downtown Vancouver. It was amazing to experience the ever-moving-forward-realization of Philippe’s and Sephora’s vision for their stores as they are pushing to continue to have the best experience in skincare, fragrance, and many opportunities to treat and service all clients to make them feel more beautiful.
Annie Ford Danielson is known as Benefit’s Global Beauty Authorities. You may also recognize her as one of Benefit Cosmetics’ founders’ daughter and niece!
As we’re always on-the-go, I asked Annie what were her recommendations for me on the following:
I hate wearing Foundation!
Often times running around from event to event, appointment to appointment, I can’t stand constantly monitoring and touching up my foundation so sometimes I don’t end up wearing any. As POREfessional is my favourite product, she said I could blend it with “that gal” as an alternative to brighten up and also that won’t feel so heavy on my sensitive skin.
Curious about the latest trend in contouring, I asked Annie what she would recommend since I’ve got a round baby-face? We joked about Hoola bronze having the most drab colour. However with no shimmer, orange hues or red hues, this would make the best bronzer to contour for many skin tones. And to add highlights, make sure there’s “Power V” strokes using “Watt’s Up!”.

Benetint is so popular, often in Asia it’s also known to be a top-selling product. Open the bottle, and it smells like roses.
We laughed when we learned how Benetint was created in the 70s for an exotic dancer.

Learn how to create some of the season’s hottest styles with Bumble and bumble experts at the Hair Studio. The Bumble and bumble Hair Studio is the first to launch at SEPHORA, exclusively at Robson, and features one of five dry styles including Surf Waves, Instant Fullness, Undercut Braid, Sublime Softness and Downtown Updo. Services are C$30 and will have you in a new look in 20 minutes or less with no appointment necessary.
As my hair naturally looks “smooth and sublime”, Harjit (Bb.Stylist of Lure Salon) went through on how to create the look of “surf waves”. With long dark and smooth hair, anytime I tried to curl, it would straighten out within a couple hours.
As this is a new one-of-a-kind hair bar inside of Sephora, it’s not only a place to get restyled, but also be taught on how to recreate the look on your own with Bumble & bumble products, like an “instant hairdo school”. We learned that Bumble & bumble flew stylists from New York City to teach our Vancouver stylists how to create these fab 5 looks.
After going through what products I would need to use to texturize my hair to make in order to make it wavy, Harjit also included a card for a cut or colour service for first time clients over at Lure Salon.

I thought cologne was strictly for men, as in North America that’s how it’s heavily marketed. Trish of Atelier Cologne explained to us that internationally, actually cologne is unisex.
Trish asked me what was generally my favourite scent, and I laughed with my answer of, “Something along the line of fresh clean laundry and deodorant.” She sprayed a bit of the handcrafted “Trèfle Pur”. I became a big fan of the heart notes of basil and galbanum, which we also learned to be a very rare plant and apparently was appreciated in religious ceremonies; perhaps reminiscent of sin or bitterness. While going through the brochures, we giggled at the fact the artwork was so “green”… How west-coast of me to choose Trèfle Pur.
Now when was the last time you admitted you were intimidated by a gentleman’s youth? Especially when it comes to super cover-model quality skin… Wow… He was being so disciplined with his champagne and appies, too!
He shared with us that 9 years ago, he fell in love with Sephora’s core concept of everyone who comes in is able to play around with all the products. Initially, Ole was in 38 Sephora Stores and now has expanded to be carried in all the Sephora Stores internationally.
Lev Glazman was very humble to be recognized as the Number 1 brand in skincare in Sephora. We learned that his initial vision was focused on creating quality products. He felt in the 80s and 90s, skincare was just so mass produced and there was too much to choose from. To truly differentiate, he believes that the whole picture and story must always be part of any successful brand.
Sephora Robson officially opens on Friday, October 31st, 2014.
